About Kristine Madelo
Title: Human Resources Generalist
Team Member Since: March 2020
Industry Organizations: Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR)
Career Path
Q: Describe your career path. How did you get into what you do now?
A: I started here in Canada as an international student to be in nursing school in Vancouver, but they filed for bankruptcy. So I changed course and transfered to the College of New Caledonia in Prince George because my cousins live here. I realized that it’s much more practical and easier for my parents to support my studies if I took a budget-friendly course. I landed in the Post Diploma Human Resource Management course, and didn’t think I’d enjoy it at first. As the semester went on, I started to enjoy the subjects and the instructors. My instructors inspired me to one day become an HR professional too. Following graduation, I started as an administrative assistant, then an HR and safety coordinator. and now as an HR generalist with Spectrum Resource Group.
Goals & Passions
Q: What are your goals for you and your team?
A: I would like to become a certified HR professional by obtaining the designation from CPHR. I hope to continue to learn from my manager, Carly Zenzen, on how to best handle things as an HR professional.
Q: What are you most passionate about professionally? What excites you most about your work?
A: The exciting part of my work is being able to meet different people. I like learning and knowing their personalities. Also, I get excited applying what I learned in school to my job.
Hobbies & Interests
Q: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
A: I play games since I am a gamer and have Korean drama marathons. I also play the guitar, sing karaoke by myself (a sign of true Filipino blood) and hangout with my friends and relatives here.
Q: What’s something about you that not many people know?
A: My biggest frustration in life is dancing.
Q: Who was the most influential person in your life?
A: It will be three people. My uncle who is also my father figure, my mom and my land lady, Michelle.
Q: What is a value statement or quote you live by?
A: Believe and love yourself, have faith and KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
