Our Opportunity

Spectrum is seeking Wildland Contract Firefighting- Type 3 Crew Members for the 2022 Wildfire Season.


Primarily BC, but potential for Alberta

Anticipated Start Date

May 1, 2022

Project Term

Full-time, contract

Shift Schedule

Deployments can be up to 14 days / up to 12-hour days.


$22.00-$27.00 per hour. Spectrum is also offering a $500.00 bonus per crew leader for each deployment they successfully complete. (Minimum 10-day deployment – deployment length will be based on BCWFS requirements). Bonus incentive will be paid upon completion and included in following pay as per usual payroll schedule. Any overtime past the first 8 hours will be paid according to BC Labor Standards overtime rules. Rates will be based on qualification and experience.


  • S 100 Basic Fires Suppression and Safety certification
  • S 185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance Certification
  • S 212 Fire Line Communications
  • S 230 Introduction to Supervision
  • S 235 Burn off and Backfiring
  • Incident Command System (ICS 100)
  • Acted as a crew leader on three fires, or, twenty days as a firefighter
  • Chainsaw Certifications (preferably CAGC or BCFSC Certificate) and/or experience with operating a power saw
  • OFA Level 1 and Transportation Endorsement
  • Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor Certificate – Fire Safety Module and/or Forest Health and Silviculture Module
  • Class 5 Driver’s License

  • Able to work outside and in a range of weather conditions,
  • Physically fit to work and walk in a rough terrain area,
  • Can comply with Drug and Alcohol Test (mandatory for safety-sensitive position – chainsaw and vehicle operation),
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
