Our Opportunity

Spectrum is currently seeking two (2) Integrated Vegetation Management Field Supervisors for the Vancouver Island and Northern BC regions for our 2022 spring/summer projects.

The Integrated Vegetation Supervisor will be responsible for safely delivering vegetation management programs. This includes responsibilities such as enforcement of Spectrums OH&S systems and policy manual, daily communication and mentorship with crew leaders and field staff, client correspondence and quality assurance.

The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to lead and direct their crews to conduct the work required in a fast-paced and changing environment, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of perfectionism in data entry. As an integrated vegetation management Supervisor, you will have an excellent knowledge of plant species and control methods. You will be responsible for enabling your crews to be ready for work each day, this includes tailgate meetings, ensuring that equipment is provided and in good working order and the crew is informed of daily activities, as well as the overarching contract plan.

April 15 for Northern BC, May 1 for Vancouver Island

Project Term

Full-time, seasonal

Shift Schedule

10 days on, 4 days off

Compensation

$250.00 to $275.00 per day (rate is based on experience and relevant qualifications)

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure Compliance on all OH&S related aspects
  • Ensure Spectrum policies are followed
  • Assist Project Manager and Human Resources with hiring and personnel resource requirements
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly work plans for the crew
  • Work with crew on sites daily, and assist crews with daily operations
  • Assist Project Managers with project reports
  • Ensure daily communication with Crew and Clients
  • Enter payroll for self and crew in electronic payroll system

Requirements

  • B.C Pesticide Applicator Certification (5 year), or provincial equivalent
  • Strong proficiency in using a chainsaw
  • Experience in vegetation management
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 and Transportation Endorsement OR Occupational First Aid Level 3
  • Class 5 Drivers License and Clean Drivers abstract

Preferred – not required

  • Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor Certificate –Forest Health and Silviculture Module would be considered
    an asset.
  • Any educational background in Natural Resources, Forestry or Environmental Science would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience using ATVs, or other offroad vehicles

  • Can comply with Drug and Alcohol Test (mandatory for safety sensitive position – chainsaw and vehicle
    operation),
