Job Responsibilities

  • Safely delivering timber consulting and forestry management operations.
  • Enforcement of Spectrum’s OH&S systems and policy manual.
  • Daily communication and mentorship with crew leaders and field staff.
  • Client correspondence.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Excellent knowledge of timber harvesting operations, cut block design, and associated riparian and ecological management strategies.
  • Enabling your crews to be ready for work each day including tailgate meetings.
  • Lead and direct crews to conduct the work required in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Ensuring that equipment is provided and in good working order.
  • Ensuring the crew is informed of daily activities, as well as the overarching contract plan.

  • Aware and helpful vehicle passenger
  • Be efficient, safe and timely in the field
  • Cutblock layout and design
  • Road Layout and Traverse knowledge
  • Riparian identification and management strategies
  • Biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification and stratification
  • Soil texture identification
  • Plant and tree species identification
  • Traverse and assessment for road engineering cost estimates
  • Crossing and Site Plan Data Collection

What You Bring

  • Safety focused.
  • Demonstrate ability to both work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • 2+ years of post-secondary education in forestry or a related field is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Valid Level 1 First Aid Ticket and Transportation Endorsement.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
